Dr. Sauer was born and raised in Cochecton, NY. She attended Delaware Valley Central School in Callicoon, NY and was a 2007 graduate from Sullivan West High School. Following high school, she went on to receive her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Siena College in 2011. During her undergraduate studies, Dr. Maegan traveled abroad to study Medical Practice and Policy in Copenhagen, Denmark.
In 2015, she received her Doctor of Optometry Degree from the SUNY College of Optometry in Manhattan, New York. While in Optometry school, Dr. Sauer was actively involved in the community as a member of Student Council and Committee Chair for SUNY College of Optometry's VisionWalk Team - raising thousands of dollars for the Foundation Fighting Blindness. Dr. Sauer was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society, SUNY College of Optometry Dean's List and received the MiraMed 20/20 Excellence in Optometry Award.
After graduation, she completed an intensive residency training program specializing in Primary Eye Care. She worked as an Assistant Clinical Instructor at the College of Optometry, at Woodhull Medical Center and at TLC Laser Eye Centers in New York City.
Since returning home, she has been providing quality eye care in the area and is honored to be able to bring her specialized services right here to Jeffersonville, NY.
In her free time, Dr. Maegan enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, toy poodle "Winston" and family. She is an avid outdoor cyclist and loves cycling indoors on her Peloton bike.
